If you liked this anime, try this tool. Have you ever wanted to keep watching an anime, but it’s over so you go looking for similar anime with the same style story or setting well we got you this tool allows you to find anime similar to the one you already love?

How I Find Anime Like Your Favourite (And Why It Beats Random Lists)

I finished Re:Zero season 4 the other night and sat there with that empty feeling. You know the one. You’ve just watched something amazing, and now nothing else looks good. So I did what everyone does, Googled “anime like Re:Zero” and got the same top 10 list I’ve seen a hundred times. Half of it was sequels. The other half had nothing to do with why I liked it.

So I built my own. Type in a show you loved, and my matcher gives you the closest picks, each with a quick line on why it’s similar. Here’s how it actually works, no smoke and mirrors.

Step 1: You pick your show

Start typing and a dropdown pops up with covers, so you don’t end up matching the wrong season or the movie by accident. Pick it, and that’s the show everything gets compared against.

Step 2: I gather the candidates

This is where most lists go wrong. They’re one person’s opinion, or they just grab whatever’s popular. I pull from two places instead.

Real fan votes. Over on AniList, fans vote on “if you liked this, try that”. I take the top 25 for your show. That’s thousands of people who’ve watched the same thing as you, telling you what scratched the same itch.

Lookalikes. I also search for well-rated shows that share the same genres and story tags. Things like time loops, isekai, found family or revenge. That way a brilliant show doesn’t get missed just because fewer people have voted on it yet.

Then I bin anything you already know about. Sequels, spin-offs and the manga version of the same show are all gone. You don’t need me telling you to watch season 2.

Step 3: Every show gets a score

Each candidate earns points for:

  • Shared story tags. This counts the most. If both shows are built around a time loop, that’s a big deal. Generic stuff like “male protagonist” barely counts, because that describes half of all anime.
  • Shared genres. A point for each one. And a small knock for genres your show doesn’t have, so a dark psychological drama doesn’t get matched with a silly comedy just because both are fantasy.
  • Fan votes. More votes means a boost, but it’s capped. A massive show can’t win on popularity alone.
  • Rating. Well-rated shows get a small nudge up.

The top eight make the cut. Then you get four bonus picks from the other side: manga on the anime page, anime on the manga page. Sometimes the best match for a show is actually a manga, and I’m not going to keep it from you.

Step 4: The “If you liked this anime, why it’s similar” line

This is my favourite bit. Every pick comes with a short reason, built from what the two shows actually share. So instead of a random title, you get something like “Same time loop & psychological feel” or “Drama with revenge at its heart”. If loads of fans voted for it too, it’ll tell you that as well.

No more picking blind and quitting after one episode.

Why it’s quick

Once someone looks up a show, I save the results for a month. So the next person who loves the same show gets their picks instantly.
