Anime Recommendation tool – What Anime should you read next?

8 Min Read

f you’ve ever spent longer scrolling through streaming apps than actually watching something, you’re not alone. There’s more anime out there than ever, and picking the next one can feel like a chore.

That’s exactly why I built this free anime recommendation tool. Whether you’re new to anime or you’ve already finished every seasonal hit, it’ll help you find your next binge in seconds.

It pulls live data from AniList, one of the biggest anime databases around. Tell it what you’re in the mood for — genre, theme, demographic, even whether you want a quick movie or a 100-episode epic — and it hands you three fresh picks, plus where to watch them legally.

What Anime Should I Watch Next?

Pick as many genres and themes as you like, or leave a section empty for "any". We'll find three anime to try.

How Does the Anime Recommendation Tool Work?

Using the tool takes about ten seconds. Here’s how:

  1. Choose your genres — Action, romance, comedy, ecchi, mecha, you name it. Pick as many as you like.
  2. Add a theme — In the mood for isekai, revenge, a cosy iyashikei or a dungeon crawl? Search the themes to find one fast.
  3. Select a demographic — Shounen energy, seinen grit, or a shoujo or josei romance.
  4. Decide on length — A movie, a short 12-episode series you can finish in a weekend, or a long-running saga.
  5. Hit Find Anime Recommendations — You’ll get three anime that match, with the score, studio, year and where to stream it officially.

Not feeling them? Tap Show me more for three more. Can’t decide at all? Hit Surprise Me for three random popular picks.

The more you select, the sharper the results. Genres and themes narrow things down, so pick one or two if you want plenty of options, or stack them for something really specific.

What Anime Should I Watch Next?

This is the question that started it all. Instead of doom-scrolling Crunchyroll or trusting a random TikTok list, let the anime recommendation tool do the picking.

It narrows thousands of shows down to what you actually want, from genre and theme to episode count. Less deciding, more watching.

Which Is the Best Anime to Watch?

“Best” is personal. Some people want non-stop fights, others want a slow-burn romance or a cosy slice-of-life. With this tool, you decide what best means to you.

What Anime Should I Watch as a Beginner?

New to anime? Start simple. Pick Action or Comedy, set the demographic to Shounen and the length to Short. You’ll get popular, easy-to-follow series you can finish in a few evenings.

Or just hit Surprise Me. It only pulls well-known titles, so it’s a safe first step.

Short Anime You Can Finish in a Weekend

Set the length to Short (up to 13 episodes) and you’ll only see one-season shows, perfect for a weekend binge. Want something even quicker? Choose Movie for a story you can finish in one sitting.

Which Anime Has the Most Episodes?

If you love a long-term commitment, set the length to Extra long (100+ episodes). You’ll get the big, long-running series that can keep you busy for months.

How to Find Anime Like Frieren, Solo Leveling or Spy x Family

Loved a show and want something with the same vibe? Pick the genres and themes that made it click:

  • Like Frieren: Fantasy + Adventure, with the Coming of Age or Iyashikei theme.
  • Like Solo Leveling: Action + Fantasy, with the Dungeon theme.
  • Like Spy x Family: Comedy + Action, with the Found Family theme.
  • Like Jujutsu Kaisen: Action + Supernatural, with the demographic set to Shounen.

Each result links to its AniList page, so you can dig into the details before you commit.

Where Can I Watch These Anime Legally?

Where AniList lists them, each result shows the official places to stream it, like Crunchyroll, Netflix or HIDIVE. Watching on official sites supports the studios and creators who make the shows you love.

If I’ve reviewed or ranked a title here on readmanga.cool, you’ll also see a Read our take button, so you can see what I thought before you start.

Anime or Manga?

It depends on how you like your stories:

  • Anime brings motion, music and voice acting, perfect for big fights and emotional moments.
  • Manga is often further ahead, so you can carry on after the anime season ends.
  • Manhwa offers full-colour, vertical-scroll stories that are great on your phone.
